Conventional key performance indicators systems and existing shop floor solutions have to be adapted

The new and modern production is subject to constant dynamics.
It is manufactured for the customer, mostly with flexible lean management approaches. The number of customer-specific variants in production is increasing from year to year and the batch sizes are getting smaller and smaller. This also means a new kind of challenge for managers in production and logistics to master day-to-day business.
More and more manufacturing companies are working in value-added processes that are optimally integrated into the supply chain to match the product and customer.
The aim is waste-free processes with a focus on throughput time and flexibility as priority 1.
Established and proven key performance indicators systems (KPI-System) and existing shop floor solutions can no longer cover these new requirements as an important control, monitoring, early warning and intervention instrument.
?
The operational data recording and data evaluation solely on productivity and utilization of machines and employees no longer provides the necessary transparency for the process owners.
Cost center-based evaluations often have to be supplemented or completely revised in the KPI-System so that value creation processes can be managed again.
At the same time, new data sources are already emerging with learning data acquisition, data compression, evaluation and options for trend analysis, control and regulation. And this at almost real-time speed.
?
The age of Industry 4.0 has arrived in the production facility and on the shop floor
The new competitive factor, also for medium-sized manufacturing companies:
????????Appropriate KPI and AI systems combined
领英推荐
????????with Lean Manufacturing, Lean Production, Lean Logistics
????????and not to forget the daily bottleneck management
????????and the permanent striving to reduce undesirable variances (Kaizen + Lean Six Sigma).
I look forward to a feedback.
Best regards
Bernd
