Control
Kathy Mangan
The road to optimal well-being can be a crooked path. A second set of eyes can be just the ticket to identify the obstacles we put in our own path. I love working with people who are ready for their "next"!
Control.? How much angst is this one concept at the root of?? Some masters would venture to say most if not all.
When we understand that not feeling in control feels unsafe and maybe even dangerous, it starts to make sense why it is so important to us. We can spend a lot of time and energy contemplating the concept of control.? Do we really have any?? Is it just an illusion? Are there degrees of control?? Although interesting to explore, what are the practical applications for this knowledge?? Let's get to where the rubber meets the road.
Here are some things to consider:
1.? Do you believe that if you do everything "right", you and everything will be OK/safe/secure/protected?
2.? Are you attached to your plan in that it needs to unfold as you envision it?
As you consider your answers to these question, explore the possibility that it isn't your PLAN that is the problem but maybe your relationship with it.? Can you hold the end result of your plan in a bigger way?? Perhaps recognizing that what you really want is to be happy as opposed to thinking that if you "could only" (fill in the blank).
Take a few cleansing breaths, relax your mind and allow yourself to consider what might be more helpful.
