Contribution of Kendriya Vidyalayas to India’s education system

It was a matter of great pleasure for me to recently inaugurate Kendriya Vidyalaya Betia in Bihar and Kendriya Vidyalaya Korba in Chhattisgarh. In the last 6 years, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, 151 new Kendriya Vidyalayas have been opened in the country. Today, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is providing excellent education to lakhs of children in the country and building their future. I heartily congratulate all the teachers and officers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for their contribution in preparing the future generation of the country.

Kendriya Vidyalayas were established not only to provide uninterrupted education to the children of government employees, but also as speed-setting institutions from which other schools could draw inspiration. On the one hand, IITs have become instruments of 'transformation of India', on the other hand, Kendriya Vidyalayas are instruments of 'Nation Development of India'.

It is very commendable that Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has always adhered to its principle of 'Tatvam Pushan Apravishnu' as it is the religion of every teacher to provide education to the next generation. I hope that this tradition will also be followed in Kendriya Vidyalaya Betia in Bihar and Korba in Chhattisgarh.

The Ministry of Education has initiated several education reforms to enhance the quality of education, one of which is the use of merit-based education. We also came up with the National Education Policy 2020. During the period of transition owing to the coronavirus pandemic, while the world was busy in the process of patchwork through adjustment and addition to its educational system, India laid the foundation for the creation of a new future through the National Education Policy. There is no other example of such a big reform around the world.

Several recommendations made in the Policy are important such as promoting pre-primary education, prioritization of basic literacy and numeracy (foundational literacy and numerology) by all students up to class 3, bridging the gap between vocational and academic streams, the new educational structure of 5 + 3 + 3 + 4, multi-disciplinary teacher-education curriculum, development of school campus etc. From 'Character Building to Nation Building', this Policy will help restore India’s status as a Vishwa Guru.

Kendriya Vidyalaya’s are the epitome for quality education, unfortunately the indian universities have not been able to touch those levels. Lot of work to be done on that front, under your leadership we expect the universities to get reformed
