Contributing National Expertise for Detroit’s Urban Revival

The Hudson's Site development – now known as Hudson’s Detroit – stands as a magnificent testament to Detroit's renaissance, transforming the city's skyline and revitalizing its urban core. Located along Woodward Avenue between Grand River and Gratiot Avenues, this landmark project has breathed new life into the former site of the iconic J.L. Hudson department store.

Designed by world-renowned SHoP Architects and spanning more than 1.5 million square feet across two distinct buildings, Hudson’s Detroit is a global destination in downtown Detroit. The property features Class A office space, including the future world headquarters of General Motors, and a 685.4-foot-tall tower, making it the second tallest building in Michigan.

The tower houses The Detroit EDITION hotel and The Residences at The Detroit EDITION, a retail collection, food and beverage, an event venue and activated public spaces.?A new plaza between the tower and the office building anchors the development—creating a unique gathering space for tenants and visitors alike.??

Its 363,000 square feet of office space has already attracted a diverse array of businesses, from established corporations to innovative startups. The retail space is anchored by a ground floor market, will become a shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. Additionally, the development includes much-needed public space, creating a large hub for community gatherings and events.

As the first ground up high-rise development in Michigan in half a century, the project required a level of expertise that was not readily available locally.
