The Act of Contracting before the Process of Expansion
You may have had an experience similar to my own of contracting over the last 2 years. Contracting socially, physically (I only recently discovered I’ve been holding tension and contracting as I fall asleep…….!). If we look at the natural world (always a great teacher….) we can see this with flowers, plants, butterflies and even with humans as they are before we emerge from the womb. It’s natural for our lives contract before they expand. So…..we may be working hard on ourselves developmentally and spiritually, doing good in the world, following our dreams, and wondering why we are still facing constrictions of all kinds?-- financial, emotional, physical. You may even feel as if we've lost yourself and are stuck in a dark room with no windows. You may be confused and discouraged by what appears to be a lack of progress. But sometimes this is the way things work. Just like the caterpillar that confines itself to it’s cocoon before it grows wings and flies, you may be experiencing the darkness before the dawn.?

When things feel tight, it's easy to panic or want to act in some way to ease the feeling of constriction. You might be spinning your wheels mentally, trying to understand why things are the way they are. There is nothing you need to other than to be patient and persevere and understand what you are really trying to create for yourself. A new product, a new service, more freedom, authority etc. Yes, you can have the awareness of moving from one stage to the next one and that you are in a stage of processing or as I like to call it ‘percolating’! However, the more you surrender to the experience, the more quickly you will move through this tightness and really start moving into the ‘unfurling’ stage. Just like the butterfly making its way from the cocoon, you may feel squeezed and pushed and very uncomfortable. Remember, you are on your way to being born into a new reality and you will find the strength to move through it…………but you know this!!?
Even as we experience the discomfort, we can find peace within ourselves if we remember to trust the process. In that sense of surrender, through our hearts and souls, is a willingness to trust in the process.
