Continuous learning

Continuous learning

There is nothing more excited that finding a job that uses your skills and continues expanding on your skill sets while allowing you to take care of your family. I am glad that I joined GEODIS last August - a worldwide third party logistics company owned by French government.

I never expect it utilized all my skills in the past 5-6 weeks. It’s my first time doing a virtual kaizen across 3 facilities for a new candle sleeves packaging under the pandemic. Super excited to find a means to consolidate 2 pallet into one safely after VAS to save replen and storage by half after it is sleeved despite of different reserve rack constraint.

It is also my first time doing pick to light technology with a vendor called VCO on site and witness the system integration from QA to production in 2 weeks with 4 days of production data to do a full 2 factor DOE analysis and see a 30 percent pick rate gain for VCO as compared to baker rack pick to order method disregard of pick associate and unit per order.

This won’t be possible without those mentors back in Amazon and my Industrial Engineering degree in Georgia Tech.

First, thank you @Paul Martel, @Ram Ramamurthy, Ph. D and @Joshua Teeter for your coaching back in our ACES CI days for North American Fulfillment. You taught me standard work for process improvement, the pattern of coaching kata, how to do effective gemba walk for continuous improvement and most importantly the respect for people. The survey we put together to gauge leadership mindset towards kaizen is now modified to help our CI engineers to access their account lean journey and understand how our lean focus SME group can support them to be better lean experts and change agent to influence their account leadership.

Thank you @Howard Langsner , and @Alex Diaconou for teaching me how to test a new warehouse, provide daily testing update and really work on business requirement documentation for WMS and test on the simple inbound problem solve, province tracking and LPN technology prior to network roll out. So when we talk about wave template modification, communication issues between VCO and Manhatten during integration, and permission issues during QA testing, I was not too surprised and can follow well and continue note down the blocker, and next step towards production testing.

Thank you @Samyukta Soothram and @Caroline Ruder for showing me how you manage the supply chain program and do network wide change communication with standard template. I just took the concept to do my weekly CAPEX update like a PM even it is my first time managing a 900K expansion project with the city of Phoenix with finance and operations.

@Michael Gordon and @John Saltzman, I cannot tell how much I missed you in PHX3. After I deal with all the data drop and power drop with various vendors and very soon the racking comes in early October, I wonder how much you both had taken care of the warehouse back then and support all my kaizen ideas just to build me prototype to test. I am truly a process improvement professional and system integration person in terms of software, logic and flow but not much hand on knowledge on infrastructure. I learned a lot last few months working with MHR to get my building drawing updated until we can get a city permit to build the racking as well as the data and power to put workstation and Kronos clocks. I just learned from my facility manager on how to get quotes for air and electric lines for upcoming 3W erector automation machine in our VAS area. When the pandemic is over, we should really meet as I am now also working for a PHX 3 building for GEODIS to help Bath and Body works e-commerce account. We are just 3 miles difference from Buckeye and 67th Ave. It was fun for the 3 years working with you both before my promotion to a regional role in 2011.

Our business is growing and GEODIS is hiring. We help branded name such as Apple, Starbucks, Uniqlo to build their supply chain so they can keep busy in building their brand name, technology and products and let us take care of the logistics piece to move their products around the stores or to the customers.

GEODIS is a great company to work for. They treat you like a family with global presence. We are even partner of Amazon in EU with our railroad, truck and drone technology. We are partners with Walmart to help certify their vendor for imports, and help CVS and Walgreen in this pandemic for their logistics needs. In NA, we do business development, freight forwarding and warehousing which we called contract logistics. If you find a position you feel interested in, just PM me and I can help provide reference and answer questions.
