Listen, if I had a dollar for every time someone asked me, “What’s the difference between content writing and copywriting?”. Well, I’d have enough to buy a nice espresso machine. After six years of marketing, I’ve got some insights to share.
The Basics: Breaking It Down
Simply put, content writing and copywriting are two different ways of using words to connect with people. They might sound like complicated marketing terms, but they’re just two unique approaches to communication.
Content Writing: The Storyteller’s Canvas
Think of content writing as your friendly neighborhood knowledge bank. It’s where we dive deep, unpack complex ideas, and give readers something valuable. My content writing? It’s about creating those “aha!” moments that make people go, “Wow, I’m glad I read this.”
What does this look like in real life?
The goal? Build trust, show expertise, and keep people coming back for more. It’s not about the hard sell — it’s about providing so much value that selling becomes almost secondary.
There's so much to unpack here, I have broken it all down in my recent blog post. Click this link to read more... https://medium.com/@falolaolajumoke/content-writing-vs-copywriting-what-ive-learned-after-6-years-in-marketing-1a7e3317454f
