I'M SORRY I Platform: Tru TV I Created By: Andrea Savage?
‘I’m Sorry’ is an unapologetic, funny, binge-worthy show about a comedy writer Andrea and her relationship with her family, friends and colleagues. In the show, Andrea plays a confident, edgy mom whose non-stop chatter often lands her in embarrassing situations both at home and work.???
Though the show focuses on new-age parenting, what’s unique about this show is that it brings to the fore topics that are common to every family, but are rarely discussed in public. For?e.g.?Andrea and her husband Mike (Tom Everett Scott) start to question their own parenting when their daughter Amelia (Olive Petrucci) makes a statement with racist undertones. The show finds comedy in awkward?conversations?between parents and kids surrounding?topics like sex, relationships, cuss words, death and divorce.
As for the cast,?Andrea's man of few words husband Mike perfectly balances out her sometimes overbearing chatty personality. His facial expressions and side glances are the perfect punctuation to most scenes. Their daughter?Amelia is a treat to?watch. She manages to say the most innocent things and yet drive her parents up the wall. Apart from these three pivotal characters, Andrea's separated parents Sharon (Kathy Baker) & Martin (Martin Mull), her colleague Kyle (Jason Manzoutkas) and her good friend Jennifer (Allison Tolman) add additional layers of comedy and complexity to her story.
Through the length of the series Andrea is a woman who is trying her best to balance her personal life and relationships, follow her professional goals and raise a good independent child.
In the words of the creator Andrea Savage herself,

"I really was just getting a little weary of the mom roles that were coming to me as I was approaching 40 and was like, ‘Why does every mom role have to be married and sexless and boring, or a terrible mother?’ I was like,?I'm?a mom, but I also do a lot of other things, and?I'm?layered and nuanced. I have funny stories that have to do with parenting but also have nothing to do with parenting. I wanted to show a female character on TV that I had never seen before."?
And that's what 'I'm Sorry' is all about!
Personal Note: It's so inspiring to see women create opportunities for themselves. Andrea Savage wanted to write a show that she believed it. It did not matter whether people would love it or hate it. She got an opportunity to make her voice heard, and that's what she did. Season 1 and 2 of I'm Sorry were well received. Season 3 was confirmed and then cancelled due to the ongoing global pandemic. Fans are still hopeful that it will get green-lit sometime in the future. #ShowReview06 #imsorry #trutv #a24
