Content type vs Attention

Our Brains are always busy looking for something to keep itself busy with. All the meditation guru's job is to make this default behaviour other way round, at the same time our marketing guru's job is to how to get maximum attention of it. Both have the contrarian aims to hit on. Let's take it from another perspective, the Attention Span, recent study shows that Human's attention span has been reduced from 13 sec to around 7 secs, approx. it got 50% drop, since these smart phone came to existence. and it will keep reducing further. What it means is our mind is approximately double times increased it's monkey behaviour, and even harder to control and make a focus on something.

Now, coming to other side of the story, Our Marketing Guru's create content to communicate, and the oldest type of content is Text or a written Text, something similar what I am creating write now, then came a slogan saying " A Picture worth thousand words " and the competitor to "Text" came, another type of content "Picture". Both had it's trade-offs and took their Market space, competing to get the Human's Attention Span. then came the idea, what if we need more than thousand words, to communicate the idea or message, and it has to be very clear, here comes the Videos, an another Content type, which with growing technology in last 100 years, has made lots difference in the world of Attention Span. But suddenly 10 years back, new beast came into town, A Smart Phone, which drastically hitting on something we never thought of, it reduced our attention span. Now, the challenge came, we need to communicate more than thousand words, but no-one has attention to even see a 2 mins. video. Most underrated content type, which was here for last 20 years. But never been undermined as the need was not clear. Things have changed now. Humans consume more of reels than a movie, due to less attention span. though they spend more than a movie time. But reels take the lead. Similarly, things are changing under the Carpet for Marketing Guru's, we still want to communicate, clearer and in most effective way, in shorter Attention Span. Only way-out visible is Gif-content.

Hardly we find any agency heavily focus on Gif-content creation, all built their competencies either in Creatives, texting, Videos. Gif been an unexplored territory, time has come to build muscles into this Type of Content, before we humans shorter our attention time further.
