Content For Success

Content For Success

Three key tactics for getting started on creating content for social media marketing

So you’ve made the decision to enter the world of social media marketing.

Now what...

You’re going to need content. You go on several platforms to check them out, Youtube, Instagrams Reels, and TikTok, and now you’re even more confused. If you’ve done your research, by now you are getting the idea of just how big, diversified, and vast the online world has become, and entering it seems a daunting task. How will you ever compete? Don’t lose hope. The very reason online marketing is so powerful is because of its diversity. Don’t think of competing think niche. Change your mindset to create content in the niche you want to carve out for you and the people that want to connect to you.

Where do you begin?

“What do you want to say and who do you say it to”

For content, the “who” is a big factor. On what platform do they spend their time? Go to where their attention is, not where you wish it would be. Platform Checklist can be helpful.

Yes, they may migrate to some other platform down the road someday. Don’t wait, go where they are now and watch for the future shift so you can be there when it’s time. Good content can be leveraged and repurposed again and again. So how do you create good content?

Value:

There are two choices. You can inform or entertain. Most businesses need to inform and if you’re lucky the information is interesting enough to have a sprinkling of entertainment.

For business, I don’t recommend going exclusively into the entertainment world. No one likes to be led on a leash. I just spent 15 min in algorithm hell on YouTube shorts on the entertainment cycle of kind gestures videos. All of which had the alterior motive of gaining likes. It was heartwarming at first until you realize the motivation was purely self-serving. In my option, the ugly side of social media. The last thing I want is to get desensitized to the act of kindness, like I admit, I have to violence in my entertainment.

Clear message:

This will help sort out a lot of decisions in content creation as well. By knowing what you need to say you can bypass the temptation to indulge in trends that don’t really fit your message and go all out in ones that do. A good offer with a clear message is the backbone of a great business

Sustainable:

By this I mean you will need to be consistent. Finding what resources you have, how much time you can dedicate, and what you can accomplish is key. If it’s just a 1 min short for Reels once a week by all means use your phone. After you have built up a library then begin grouping them into topics and create a longer video for variety and value You have great product images? - Instagram, use the Meta Business suite, and cross-post to Facebook to cover even more demographics. Or if you are an expert in a subject write an article. Who would have thought a video production house would find value in writing a newsletter every week? 84 articles and counting and I feel like this journey is just getting started. Who knows what I will turn all this written content into next? LinkedIn offered and pushed weekly newsletters in 2019, my clients are on the platform so I took advantage of the offer and it has greatly increased my online presence and raised my status as an expert. Whatever your main platform choice is, create content for that platform, and then find ways to Leveraging Your Content whenever you can.

An online presence requires content. Your choice of campaign will determine how much. This article may help you choose, Paid vs Organic Campaigns. Getting your offer and message honed in will lead you to a platform where your people’s attention lie. Create content with value to the very people you want to attract and connect to. They will find you. Then deliver consistently. By paying attention to the data available you will know what is working and what is not. That’s the beauty of online marketing you can track results. When you find a message that resonates then it’s time to scale it up to paid ads.
