Content Strategy, Content Operations, and a New Approach to Go-To-Market

Content Strategy, Content Operations, and a New Approach to Go-To-Market

Every web project is different, but there is always a start - the project scope - and an end - a maintenance and improvement process when the project is complete.

It's what comes in the middle, said Corey Vilhauer, Director of Strategy at Blend Interactive, that is different every time. Vilhauer outlines 24 stages of a web project broken down into six groups.

  1. Planning – project setup?
  2. Discovery – research?
  3. Strategic Design?
  4. System Requirements?
  5. Development?
  6. Launch and Beyond?

So, where does the content strategist fit into these stages? Well, they can't do everything, but their role is also not specific to one stage.

Content strategists are communicators, and they see the big picture. They need to educate themselves on all stages and work across teams to find the right way to ensure the project is successful.

Most team members have specific roles to fill. Roles have a purpose - they promote efficiency and maximize expertise.?But content strategists are, Vilhauer said, connectors. And it's these connectors that help keep a project moving from stage to stage in the right direction.

Listen to Vilhauer's full talk to understand how content strategists can connect the entire web experience.

All the AI in the world isn't going to change the fact that operational foundations need to be in place. Cathy McKnight, Chief Problem Solver at the Content Advisory, joined the Content Matters podcast to chat about content strategy and content operations - and of course, generative AI.?
