Content for Startups

Content for Startups

Our special guest this week is Shaun Gold and you’ve likely already read his content this week without knowing it. Shaun Gold is a content writer for Movie Stars, Athletes, and some of the most famous CEO's in business.

I chose the topic this week

I picked the topic for this episode as Shaun and I were BS'ing, game planning, and getting to know each other preparing for this week's newsletter and live. I did not deep dive research into Shaun ahead of time and sent the Easy to read Deep Thoughts invite mostly on a (correct) vibe. He's standing next to Alex Trebek in his profile picture. Jeopardy = awesome!

Content for Startups thoughts:

More often than not, I think of what I'll write in these newsletters as I'm writing and this one is interesting.

-Example: content too extreme could easily take out a new company and on the other side, too cheesy and ineffective could produce a similar conclusion.

-What if the company requests, demands, or expects content quality that in Shaun's experiance, consistaintly fails? Should he push the company into adjusting or give them what they want?

-As an outsider, I wonder what level of independent research Shaun needs to do to familiarize himself with the startup and their product or service? Could he jump in blind? = maybe. Shaun and I had an awesome conversation last week and I have the impression he's witty and comfortable diving in.

-Over all and from Shaun's perspective, what types of content work best for what types of Startups? Assuming each company has different goals and products, there is likely still highlevel and predictable similarities.

-What length of content is most important? I personally believe all content types are useful and serve a purpose and personally know, trying to write all types, all the time is more than I'm personally able to handle = selection required.

-Shaun offered to introduce me to a bunch of awesome highlevel people. I wonder what role networking plays in his line of work and how much of the demand for his work is produced solely from this networking = networking pays.

Best case is the right content, with the right audience, at the right time

This article is a setup to pull out Shaun's experience for our audience. My last sentence above could work as an overall theme to my general thoughts on producing content and in this case, producing content specifically for new, claiming ground, 'making a name for themselves' business Startups.

Writing content for businesses who's success or failure could rest on the content he's writing.
