Content Repurposing Made Simple: 5 Easy Hacks for Quick Results

Creating high-quality content takes time and effort, and getting the most mileage out of your hard work is crucial. Rather than constantly reinventing the wheel, smart content creators employ repurposing tactics to keep their material fresh and engaging. In this post, I'll explore five quick and effective content repurposing hacks that will not only amplify your reach but also save you valuable time.

1. Find out what makes your ideal client or customer tick

Understanding your ideal client's needs, preferences, and pain points is crucial to crafting messages that resonate with them. By speaking their language, you not only show empathy but also build trust, indicating that your solution is tailored to their specific situation. Regular engagement and feedback can further fine-tune your approach, ensuring your offering remains relevant and appealing to your client's evolving challenges.?

How much your solution will appeal to her depends, however, on whether or not you speak her ‘language’. Do you communicate in a way that resonates with the client?? A lot of that will depend on what format you use. It helps if you know what type of learner she is: Visual, auditory, kinesthetic or linguistic.

  • A visual learner responds best to images, graphs, illustrations, videos, livestreams and slides. She prefers extra white space, short paragraphs and key points emphasized with graphics.
  • An auditory learner responds best to podcasts and audio files. (Videos and live streams work well too – especially live streams – because one can listen to them.)
  • A kinesthetic learner responds best to step-by-step guides, and video walk-throughs, as well as a minimum of text. They like things clear, simple and to-the-point
  • A linguistic learner loves text. It doesn’t mean she doesn’t appreciate white space and images, but she would much rather READ the transcript of your video or livestream than watch it. (Linguistic learners often hate video, and feel that the video is ‘wasting time’.) And statistics and ‘facts’ are right up her alley!

Watching results to see what gets you the most engagement in your niche is one way to ascertain what type of learning style predominates, but you can also just ask —particularly if you do it in a Facebook Group with a poll added to your post question.?

When you first start recreating and reformatting content, however, it’s a good idea to present it in multiple formats so that you can take care of all types of learning styles – since people are rarely just one type! It’s easy to provide a transcript with your video course module, or record an audiobook version of your book; or add clear diagrams to your text.

There may have been nothing wrong with your original piece of content: It just didn’t speak your ideal client’s language and was not formatted in the way she responds to best. Now you can take care of that.

2. Revamp the stuff you take for granted

Another mistake entrepreneurs often make: Creating factual data such as bios, signatures or About pages, and leaving them up forever, year after year.? Take into account your audience’s preferred learning styles and personalities, factor in hot new trends and re-evaluate your long-term elements, which may be so static, they’re practically dead!

Change your email signature regularly. Get people used to seeing different links in your email signature: To new content you’ve released; to your JV partner’s interview or post; to a free resource or “how to” post you think they’ll love. Email signatures are also great spots to share links to your latest video or livestream replay and remind people to watch them.

Revamp your graphics too. Maybe it’s time to book that professional photo shoot, and get a hot new profile photo done—along with lots of extra photos (using settings and accessories) to use on promotions, landing pages and other sections of your site.

It’s not just the content itself that gains extra mileage when you repurpose it: It’s the variety of ways you share it. Get creative, and make sure you are getting the most out of your repurposed content.

Repurposing content is about extending its reach and impact by transforming it to fit different platforms and audiences. Each format speaks to a different subset of your audience, maximizing the value of your original content. Get creative and strategic with repurposing to make your content work overtime for you.

3. What’s Hot and What’s Not

Repurposing content is key in today's fast-paced social media landscape. If your audience loves Instagram, leverage that! Create engaging reels and stories that bring your content to life with immediacy and fun. It's about meeting your audience where they are and delivering value in a format they love.

Longer articles are a “must” nowadays for platforms such as LinkedIn. And even on your blog, if you habitually only create short posts, add some variety and throw some long ones into the mix to give your site weight and authority. Just combine three or four posts on a single topic. And keep in mind that if you have several posts on a topic, it’s likely to either be a topic you are passionate about, or one that really interests your audience!

Facebook Live is more popular than ever,? so conquer your camera shyness and let your audience connect with the real you. Your live presence resonates more deeply than any polished photo ever could. Plus, you can give your best livestreams a second life by featuring them in your emails.

4. Repurposing your emails

The most important area of your business relates to building your list, so don’t ignore your emails when you are repurposing content. Look through your old content (especially evergreen content – content which is always relevant, such as time management tips) and repurpose it to:

  • Create email tips?
  • Create links to it in your email signature
  • Create reminders about your best posts
  • Create new posts strictly for email only
  • Create an email mini-course

(It’s pretty awesome when you can get an entire five-day email mini-course from one blog post!)

5. Other easy ways to get more mileage from your repurposed content

Once you’ve repurposed your content – and even if you don’t want to repurpose it, you think it’s a gem just the way it is and you’d just forgotten you created it – you can make it stretch much further by simply applying one of these four hands-off tactics.

  • Hire a VA to repurpose it

This is an especially great tactic when you use it for social media. For example, you can repurpose those three short blog posts into an eBook—and then give a copy of your eBook to your VA and say, “Please make seventy tweets based on this”.

Or hand her the literal transcript of your webinar, and ask her to put it in a more readable format, eliminating words like “Um,” or repetitions when a speaker is stumbling over words; or turning transcript notations like “[Mandi laughs]” into story sentences such as “Mandi laughs when I ask her about San Diego”.

  • Re-sharing

If you come across great evergreen posts, don’t repurpose them: Just re-share the links in social posts and emails to your list, reminding them about these gems.

After all, new clients and subscribers may not even have seen these to begin with. So, you’re doing them a favor by letting them know the articles exist and sending them there.

  • Use an ‘intelligent’ content sharing management system

It’s one thing to smack your content into an app that will mechanically re-post the link every twenty-four hours, but that is far from what ‘intelligent’ content sharing platforms, like MeetEdgar, do.

MeetEdgar allows you to build an entire archive of your content – your own personal online library – and automatically re-shares your content so that your “queue never runs dry”. You don’t even have to think about it, and if you’ve even got ten posts to share, it’s super fast to upload them and let MeetEdgar get started in promoting them.?

  • Advertising

Finally, remember that you can guarantee extra shares for your new, repurposed content by doing a little simple advertising – providing you’ve accurately identified your ideal audience.

Boost your best-performing posts – and create ad copy, videos and graphics from your repurposed content too!

Efficient content repurposing is a game-changer for content creators looking to maximize their reach and save time. By transforming existing content into various formats and distributing it strategically, you can engage your audience across different platforms and maintain a consistent presence. These five hacks are just the tip of the iceberg – experiment with these strategies and discover what works best for your audience and objectives. Remember, the key is to work smarter, not harder, in the ever-evolving landscape of content creation.
