Content Marketing Vs. Content Brand Marketing: What To Know

Content Marketing Vs. Content Brand Marketing: What To Know

Your online presence is only as strong as the content you produce. Quality content has the potential to boost brand awareness, increase sales, and establish you and your brand as industry experts. Content can be what makes or breaks a lead conversion, meaning the type of content you choose is just as important as how you choose to use it.

It can be difficult to determine if you’re using the right content, and even more difficult to use it correctly. Choosing between content marketing and brand content marketing is the next decision to make, but first, you need to understand their differences.

What Is Content Brand Marketing?

Content brand marketing, as the name implies, is marketing directly linked to a specific brand. This type of marketing’s main goal is building brand awareness and trust, as well as developing a relationship with potential customers. While it might be focused on a brand, it doesn’t focus on a specific product or service, and instead directs attention to the brand mission and values.

This is a great opportunity to showcase a brand’s personality and what makes it stand out from others in its field. Many use this type of marketing as a chance to connect with potential buyers, while simultaneously answering questions like why your brand exists, and who it’s meant for.

What Is Content Marketing?

Whereas content brand marketing seeks to build relationships with potential customers, content marketing instead focuses on customer pain points and how to build trust by solving them. This type of content aims to inform and teach, rather than simply entertain.

Providing potential customers with valuable information, content, and other resources that helps them on their decision-making journey is a good way to establish your brand as an industry leader, as well as begin building trust and brand loyalty.

What’s The Difference Between Them?

Unfortunately, not knowing the difference between content marketing and content brand marketing can actually be detrimental to your company, and even cost you your credibility and brand image. Greeting a potential customer at the wrong part of their buying journey with information not yet relevant to them will have the opposite effect you’re hoping for.

The main distinction between the two comes down to their goals. The goal of content marketing is to increase conversion and drive leads, while content brand marketing is more concerned with brand awareness and building rapport with your target audience.

Another important difference between them is their flexibility. Content brand marketing is relatively flexible, and can be put anywhere from social media platforms to big publications. Content marketing on the other hand exists to drive sales and isn’t appropriate for most settings that brand content marketing is.
