Content Marketing & Syndication

Content Marketing & Syndication

The most common mistake I see business owners make:

Posting content for content’s sake.

When you just post for the sake of it, the content usually provides no value to your audience and may not help your overarching goals.

Quality > quantity always wins ??

You need to have a solid social media strategy so your marketing goals align with your business objectives.

Every single post should have a clearly defined goal, and you should be able to measure its success through KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).

Yes, even that pic of the friendly office dog should have a goal and KPI…

Here’s some examples of creating and tracking measurable goals across platforms:

→ Business Objective: Grow your brand’s online presence

? Social Media Goal: Increase brand awareness; including current audience and potential audience

- Metric: Follower growth, reposts, shares

- KPI target ex: Grow followers by X amount in X time period

→ Business Objective: Build and nurture a loyal community

? Social Media Goal: Increase engagement rate by understanding how your audience interact with your different content pillars

- Metric: Comments, likes, DM’s, mentions

- KPI target ex: Increase engagement rate by X% in X time period

→ Business Objective: Drive sales and generate qualified leads

? Social Media Goal: Increase conversion rate of current and target audience, demonstrating how effective your marketing campaigns and community building efforts are

- Metric: Website clicks, email newsletter signups, lead magnet downloads, inbound leads

- KPI target ex: Convert X new clients in X time period

→ Business Objective: Improve customer retention rate

? Social Media Goal: Turn consumers into brand advocates so they become your biggest fans online

- Metric: UGC, testimonials, online reviews, average response time for better customer service

- KPI target ex: Online reviews and TrustPilot rating

TL;DR

Your marketing strategy should be thoughtful and data-driven.

You should consistently look at your goals KPI’s in depth to see where you can improve.

Here’s how to do that:

1. Identify and define your long & short term business objectives

2. Create marketing goals that are ambitious, but realistic and achievable

3. Select relevant KPIs so you know how you will achieve your goals and objectives

4. Set measurable targets so you can determine what success looks like for each KPI

5. Measure the impact, analyse the data and adapt your marketing strategy based on the results
