Content is King anddd Queen

Content is King anddd Queen

You can’t avoid it anymore. If you’re in charge of marketing - whether you're the solo-entrepreneur handling all things marketing for your business or a senior sales leader who has also been asked to oversee marketing - you know demand for more content is around all the time.

You’ve likely heard the saying that “content is King.

Well, what if I told you that it’s also QUEEN?

Alright, so, hear me out...

The amount of content you put out (...and a tip, it’s not just social media) is super important. You want to ensure that somehow, someway, your ideal client is hearing about you and hearing from you...often.

Everything gets easier when you have content on your side.?Your sales pitches get better and your sales cycle gets shorter. You are able to show your prospects your unique value proposition, answer their frequently asked questions, and showcase plenty of social proof.

But, is there more?

Well, it actually matters a lot more what kind of content you’re distributing.?

Content is king, because it is definitely THE way to lessen the load of your marketing (and even sales) teams over time.

Content is queen, because with highly curated and engaging content, it can create deep community, fans, and loyalists who will not only purchase from you, but also tell others about you and BAM...your brand is fortified without you having to tell everyone how great you are.

Imagine being the extremely annoying guy or lady in the middle of a room that just won’t shut up. Everyone is just awkwardly staring. No one's really listening. Everyone is slowly walking away and some are even leaving the room. You do not want to be that person - on or offline. So, the way you unlock the QUEEN in content is to tailor your content to your target audience.?

You make content a QUEEN by telling stories, and especially these days, being HUMAN.

Here are some tips:

  1. Take a stand. It's scary...yes, but it's also necessary. Years ago corporations were afraid of standing out (and losing money) so there was an understanding that some things just weren't talked about widely - like LGBTQIA+...now, Fidelity has it's corporate buildings lit up with rainbow colors every June. It's something to think about.
  2. Provide value. The law/rule of reciprocity is real. When someone helps us in any way, our human nature is to want to do something back for them in return. Provide as much value as you can with your content - to the point where it starts to feel like "should all of this be free?!" So, when there is an opportunity to begin the process, your ideal client will find YOU.
  3. Foster a sense of community. Just like you would at any networking event, you have to make your way around. Eventually you'll notice that you've created bonds with several people in the room who often tend to gather in some way. That happens online too. Don't miss it. Foster those deeper connections by, again, being human.
  4. Don't just focus on social media for content distribution. Surprise, surprise, the woman who is on the anti-social content kick is saying you shouldn't center social media in your content distribution. Well, I'll say it anyways, because it's true. There are plenty of different ways to utilize content and connect with your audience - podcasts (doesn't have to be your own pod by the way), blogs, email, etc. Try something different.

So, give it a shot. Create more content, become king. While you're at it, create highly customized, useful, engaging content - become a QUEEN.
