In episode 59 of Don't Eat POOP! A Food Safety Podcast , Matt Regusci and I are joined by RJ Palermo , the Sales Director of Food Safety Tech , which hosts the Food Safety Consortium.
So, you’ll get some insights into the Food Safety Consortium, like why this last edition was held in New Jersey and why it’s such a small event when compared to some others out there.
We also talk about the importance of content, how it drives the world now, and the impacts AI will have on the industry.?
In this episode:
Content Drives Everything
Here we are again.?
Another week, another new edition of the Don't Eat POOP! A Food Safety Podcast Newsletter that goes along with this week’s new episode of the podcast.
As much as Matt and I like each other, we don’t pay consistently to talk to each other on the podcast just for fun, we do it because we have a mission to make food safety accessible to everyone.?
I write this newsletter every week because I feel like it’s an important piece in educating people on the topic of food safety — so that foodborne illnesses that are 100% preventable can be avoided, for instance.
We know that it’s content like this that makes the difference, one listener or reader at a time.
RJ Palermo agrees.?
He is the Sales Director of Food Safety Tech - a digital media community for food industry professionals interested in food safety and quality.
“Whether it be digital or face to face, it's content that drives everything.” — RJ Palermo
In our interview, he mentions different types of digital content you can publish such as a white paper, case study, or ebook, as well as the importance of webinars and web seminars for driving your engagement and getting your brand out there.

Whether we want to or not, finding ways to showcase our thought leadership (like the ones he talked about) is the way to get our point across and move the needle on our mission.
Both Matt and I have had the pleasure of publishing our material for the Food Safety Tech community and furthering the reach of our expertise with that.
Matt wrote an article on something that never goes away: Listeria.?
His article, Planning Is Key Component of Listeria Prevention, not only had a lot of engagement at the time of publishing, but it continues to be engaging more than 2 years later.
Last month, I published a new article, Preventing Foodborne Illness Outbreaks, and had a good reaction to it so far.
Along with the podcast, these take us closer to stopping these preventable diseases altogether, or at least letting people know of the risks and that there’s a better way to do things.
So, if you too have a mission and some expertise on the topic, please consider sharing your knowledge with the world for everyone’s benefit.
If you have something you feel as though the food industry would want to learn or read and are ready to get it out there but don’t know where to start, try Food Safety Tech. They are great to work with and it’s free.?
All you have to do is go to foodsafetytech.com, take a look at their editorial guidelines, and submit your content. If it passes the editorial team, they'll definitely publish it.
Content drives everything and it definitely drives the change you want to make in this world, so go create some!
