Content Distribution: how to distribute your content?

One thing is writing blog articles. Another thing is distributing them. After some time of consistent practice, writing becomes second nature. Yet, writing alone doesn′t bring you far. To be able to gain money online, you need to be seen as an authority in your field of expertise.

For that, you need an audience to read your articles. But before that, you need to get your content out there. So, how to improve your chances of being read? Simple, by content distribution.

What is content distribution?

Content distribution is the promoting of content to online audiences in multiple media formats through various channels.

These channels can be categorized into three groups:?

1. Earned content distribution: These third parties distribute your content through:

  • Press coverage
  • Guest article contributions
  • Retweets or shares
  • Product reviews.

2. Paid content distribution:

  • Pay per Click Ads
  • Display Ads
  • Retargeting
  • Paid Influencers
  • Paid Content Promotion
  • Social Media Ads

3. Owned content distribution includes distributing content to your owned sites:

  • Website
  • Mobile site (microsite)
  • Blog
  • Email newsletter
  • Social media

Post content on LinkedIn or Medium

Besides publishing your content on your website or social media, you can also choose to publish your content on Content platforms, such as LinkedIn or Medium.

  • LinkedIn is a social networking site for professionals and businesses. To connect with other professionals and businesses in your industry, find a job, research companies, and get news about your industry. This makes it a suitable place to share the content you create.
  • Medium is?an open platform where readers find dynamic thinking, and where expert and undiscovered voices can share their?writing on any topic. A content distribution platform.

Both platforms are a wonderful way to get your content into the wild.

Repurpose your content

Now you know what content distribution is, what it consists of and how to distribute your content, it is important to think about how to use your content in the best possible ways.

No two persons are the same. We all have our preferences in learning and reading. So why should we only post blogs on a static website or share the same content repeatedly on any possible social media channel you can think of?

Time to get creative. Time to repurpose your content. Ok, that sounds great, but what are you talking about?

Repurposing is recycling your content in diverse ways.

When you create an interesting blog article, you can reuse part of the content for other assets you create. Let′s give an example:

A blog post or article about Content distribution can be repurposed into an:

  • Video
  • eBook
  • Casestudy or Client profile
  • Whitepaper
  • Report
  • Email newsletter
