At this point, you might have already heard that it's important to create content on blogs, social media sites, etc.
WHY create content?
If you are trying to sell a product, service, idea, etc. it's important to note that most people are averse to the "hard sell" and don't appreciate being pitched to. You still need to get the ideas out there to the market...that's why we look to content creation.
Creating non-salesy content enables individuals and companies to get their story out there and to get noticed while also providing valuable information to the audience. People enjoy consuming valuable content but they don't like being "sold".
Elements of effective content
In order to be effective, the content you create needs to be valuable, relevant, and consistent.
- Valuable – The people who read your blogs or watch your videos must get something worthwhile out of it (education, entertainment, etc.)
- Relevant – Your content must address the audiences wants, needs, and interests. Be that trusted expert they can turn to for answers.
- Consistent – Effective content, delivered over a period of time, makes you recognizable.
