If you're considering making the jump into starting your own business, there are things you can do now to ease the transition. Here are five recommendations based on what I learned in my transition from corporate to entrepreneur.
- Write a simple business starter plan. This will serve as a starting point for a more detailed plan and strategy later on. For now, this will serve to help you clarify your purpose. Here is a template you can use to start.
- Start learning about your future customers. Who will you serve? What need are you fulfilling? What pain do they have? What are their aspirations? What keeps them up at night? You don't have to buy expensive market research reports to do this. LinkedIn is a great place to start.
- Start building your "new" network. When I first started, most of my network was comprised of employees at the company I had worked for. I love keeping in touch, but they were not related to my new business. You need to build a network of your ideal clients, experts/mentors and other entrepreneurs. Don't overlook the value of connecting with other entrepreneurs-- business ownership can be lonely. You'll need a support system of people who understand.
- Have informational interviews. Don't just send a connection request on LinkedIn. Ask to meet. There are many people on this platform who help and support new entrepreneurs. Have conversations, get advice and soak it up like a sponge.
- Build your portfolio. Start doing the work and getting results. For example, let's say you plan on offering copywriting services. Offer your services in exchange for a testimonial. Then, when you are ready to leave your job and be full-time in your business, you'll have social proof to show to prospective clients.
I have created two new services to help you grow!

I'm accepting 5 clients only in the month of May. DM me if you want to talk.
- Profile Power-Up Sessions: You can call this your LinkedIn power hour! I will dive deep into your profile to discuss EVERYTHING you need to know and do to transform your profile into a client magnet. It's only $79 (and...if you decide to use other services, you'll get a double discount of $158 applied).
