This week in London, Sotheby's presents our dedicated Contemporary African auction, which closes for bidding on Thursday 20 October at 3pm BST (10am EST).
This is our biggest ever sale, with more than 140 lots in total, including the best artists and makers working across the African continent in the 20th and 21st centuries. We have many exciting and fresh-to-market pieces by the African ‘Masters’ including El Anatsui, Ouattara Watts, Yinka Shonibare, Magdalene Odundo, William Kentridge, Mohamed Melehi, Gerard Sekoto, Ben Enwonwu, and Ladi Kwali as well younger generation artists such as Aboudia, Kudzanai Violet Hwami, Omofemi, Isshaq Ismail, Kwesi Botchway, Nedia Were, Foster Sakyiamah, etc.
