Contemplation of Time.

Time.
If there is a thought on my mind that I am contemplating it is that concept - The one of Time.
We must understand time if we are to understand seconds and minutes and hours that add up to days and days that add up to months and months that add up to a year right?
Calendars are man-made. They are made to give people a sense of control over a blank canvas. The calendar that we currently use isn't science and it isn't the defacto.
Did you know that there have been experiments with 10 day weeks and such?
The only scientific logic about a year is the fact that the clunk of rock that we live on, has circled the fireball once - approximately. But that really doesn't say much about anything.
Time is relative. It isn't a steady stream. It moves fast, it moves slow and on occasions, it tends to drag its feet. It moves fast when we perceive things around us to be favorable, and crawls when things around us feel out of hand and devastating. This year perhaps had a few too many occasions, that the year felt like it was a bundle deal of two for one, or maybe 2.5 for one.
Yes, the marking of time in chunks of 365 days, makes it easier for all of us to adjust and adapt to life as it is. It is the great equalizer that makes it feel like everyone has the same amount of time, no matter who they are, or what they are capable of.
But, if Einstein was right, It isn't true.
Life, every individual life, is perhaps a long scroll, and it isn't punctuated by years and months and days. It is a story and time just runs alongside it, only to mark the showing up and signing off of characters and soulmates and incidents that cross our paths in that storyline. And in that story line - like all great stories are - time speeds up and slows down. It gets into elaborate details when we are fighting the great demons or conquering lands, and almost forgets to mention any details about the days that we simply showed up - but it promptly records the days when we mustered the courage to get up and move.
While the world tends to live in time, entrepreneurs and artists live in lifetimes. It is one big lifetime.
So don't worry if what you are working on, seems incomplete still. Don't let it bother you that you can't quantify everything that you got involved in this year. You are torturing yourself, trying to fit a grand plan into a concept that it doesn't fit into. Keep the eye on the goal - which is how the story would read from start to finish, punctuated with moments of wit, charm, good humor and a spirit that was likable.
There are no new years, or old years, just pages turning, or sections of a long scroll (if you prefer it that way). Just like any good author would tell you, if you want the story line to change, you need to make the switch. The page turning doesn't change the story, you do.
