On the morning of December 23, a ship overturned at the port of Ambali, the main container port in Istanbul, Turkey.

At that time, a small container ship named Amnah (DWT of 5200 tons) was carrying out loading operations in the port, however, the ship suddenly lost stability in the course of the operation, first tilted to the pier, and finally overturned.

It is reported that there were 15 crew members on board, and after the accident, 5 of them jumped into the water decisively and swam to safety under their own power, while the other 10 were also successfully rescued from the ship.

The incident took place at 4 a.m. local time, and the crew on deck at the time can still be seen in the relevant video screenshots. Port officials are currently taking active measures in an effort to contain the damage caused by the incident and to clean up the overturned vessel.

Built in 1996, the Amnah is 101 meters long and 18 meters wide and was operated for the Russian shipping company Fesco, which registered the vessel in Comoros. In October 2024, the vessel was transferred to a company based in Belize and operated by Turkish management, the database shows
