Contact Arrangements for Children: Special Occasions
When parents separate, working out the arrangements for a child can be tricky. Emotions may run high and there are likely to be lots of different issues and concerns that demand attention. The day to day arrangements for a child will be most pressing but it is also a good idea to consider, in advance, what will happen on particular occasions.
Some parents will find it helpful to be quite prescriptive as to what will happen on particular occasions and others may find a more flexible approach works better. Whatever you decide, it is a good idea to consider what occasions are important to you, your ex and your child so that arrangements can be agreed in advance and disagreements avoided.
Families may have celebrations that are unique to them such as an annual family gathering or it may be that some more traditional celebrations hold less importance. Below is a basic list of occasions to provide a starting point for making your own list of particular events that you might need to factor into childcare arrangements.
