The Consumer Price Index (CPI) Report

The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures inflation on the consumer level, was reported at 0.1%, below expectations of 0.3%, and decreased by 0.6% to 7.1% year over year, which was lower than the 7.3% estimate. The Core CPI Rate strips out food and energy prices, increased by 0.2% for November, below expectations of 0.3%, and decreased by 0.3% to 6%, which was lower than expectations of 6.1%.
