Consumer First: Why we make it matter

It’s obvious, but if we or any other brand want to truly succeed and achieve sustainable growth, then a customer centric approach is the key. 

A consistent question that brands should ask themselves is whether or not you are engaging and creating meaningful connections with your consumer? Or are you just marketing to them?

While I know that we still have some room to grow, I believe that our focus on the details of the experience (that can so often be neglected), through the power of participation has resonated well with our audiences. I have seen first-hand the impact our unforgettable sporting campaigns have had on participants.

 I thought I would touch upon a few areas that I believe are important pillars for a consumer first approach:

1.     Data – The right data will provide you with the insight and foundation to track consumer behaviour and engagement. It’s the key to helping you decide what someone wants, and when and how they want it from you.

2.     Technology – We are living in a world where technology must be at the heart of all innovations and consumer touch points. Everyone now expects a fast, engaging and seamless journey whilst connecting with any brand. It’s no longer good enough to adopt a ‘one size fits all approach’.

3.     Process – As a business there should be an everyday process for receiving feedback to enable you to focus on improving the experience again and again. A mindset of having achieved, will only lead to failure in the future.

4.     Speed – You need to be proactive as a business to anticipate impactful changes but also be quick to react when needed. There is no point taking months to create positive change as your meaningful relationship with a consumer will have been and gone.

5.     Support – Every conversation with a consumer, a supplier, a partner, or even within our own team is important. If you can create an alignment across everyone then that can only be beneficial for the consumer.
