Making the Most of the Sound Quality in Your Home Theater
Even though home theaters are made up of several different components, the vast majority of the attention paid to home theater technology in recent years was centered on the TV itself: flat screens have come a long way and they now offer ultra-high-resolution imagery, with rich color and deep contrast. As the focal point of most home entertainment systems, today’s TVs are bigger (yet thinner), run cooler and more efficiently than ever before, all while giving us a level of photorealism that was out of reach for previous generations. But there’s a catch.
One aspect of the home entertainment experience that hasn’t improved much — if at all — as TVs have evolved, is the sound quality from the speakers in the TV. Manufacturers have realized, especially recently, that most people will connect some sort of external audio device — a sound bar, at least — to the TV, so they have figured out that they can lower the retail price of their TV even further by keeping the onboard speaker technology at a passable minimum of performance

PC Audio at the Convergence of Productivity, Creativity and Entertainment
The PC was traditionally not much of an everyday device for most people in China. Except for business users and high-end gamers, most people used phones and tablets as their primary device, and having a laptop for personal use was seen as somewhat of a luxury. But this is changing, as the PC usage has evolved somewhat since the beginning of the pandemic, due to so many aspects of life being shifted to entirely online. Work meetings moved online. Classrooms moved online. Content creators and other online occupations moved into a PC environment. The PC exists in the sweet spot between the TV and the mobile phone, and is becoming a vital hub of certain types of online activity, with audio quality being one of the most important considerations.?

Obviously, the entertainment use case has specific need for high-quality audio, and that is driving some of this trend. If you look at audio on the PC itself, it faces the same challenges that audio does on tablets and smartphones: there’s a desire for great audio, but a small form factor limits the quality. Even still, while PC sales worldwide are relatively flat, there is an opportunity for audio quality on the PC to improve significantly.

TVs – The Smart Speaker (Some of) You Didn’t Know You Had
The era of streaming has taken over the music industry. According to a CBS News poll conducted in 2021, a staggering 41% of Americans now rely on streaming services to satisfy their musical cravings, making it the most popular way to listen. This revolutionary shift not only changes how we access music but also impacts the way we design our home audio systems.
Gone are the days of bulky black boxes in a stereo rack. Thanks to advancements in technology, people are now embracing simpler methods of constructing their home audio setups. Surprisingly (to some), the smart TV has emerged as the centerpiece in many households’ audio systems.

1 年Interesting trends. As a millennial, I can vouch for it. :) "Recent research by Futuresource revealed that 69% of Gen Z and 80% of millennials already listen to music through their TVs at least once a month, with a significant number of Gen X and baby boomers doing the same. "
