Okay and how much can I make?

It turns out that the minimum rate for this type of thing is $100, but it can go up to $500 or more for one hour of your time. You can easily find examples of this by doing a quick Google search.

Many people are heavily impacted by the hyper inflation and not 100% of the employers are offering salary adjustments that can preserve a real salary this year. In fact from personal conversation with my peers I perceive a sense of humiliation and great discomfort when it comes to discuss a salary adjustment. It seems like many people are resigned to accepting very low salaries this year and are not hopeful about the future. It's unfortunate because a salary adjustment could help to preserve a real salary and provide some stability in this unstable economy.

Many professionals start the hustle of taking new interviews and several hours of preparations just hoping to get a job offer to be then able to ask the employers to finally allow a rise to keep them.

I have been there too. Some times a workplace is comfortable and positive but we all have expenses to cover so we are forced to struggle to cover our expenses. This can be a difficult decision to make, but we maintain our sanity and financial stability without painful measures.

In this light a sporadic consultation opportunity can really do wonders to get even with inflation or even becoming a good side hustle without spending a lot of time doing marketing.

It's important not to provide any confidential or non-public information to the client – they won't ask for it and don't want to hear it. Violating compliance rules is the fastest way to be permanently kicked off an expert network. It can be tempting to share something you shouldn't with the client – they're paying you and you want to be helpful – but don't do it! If you're unsure how to answer their question without providing non-public information, tell the client and they will move on.

Provide high level, generalized answers along the lines of “I can’t really share what I know about …, but let me tell you, more generally, ….” Additionally, familiarize yourself with what information is out in the public domain, even if it is hard to find. If there is information they could uncover on their own through public sources like Google or SEC filings it’s generally not going to be considered non-public and you can have at it!
