The ever-changing nature of visa regulations in Australia and New Zealand presents a continuous challenge for those involved in the immigration process including applicants and employers. By staying informed, seeking professional advice, and planning ahead, individuals and businesses can better navigate these changes. In the latest edition on our newsletter we share important visa updates.


More time to find a new sponsor or apply for a different visa?

From 1 July 2024, some visa conditions are changing in response to the Australian Governments?Migration Strategy.

These improvements will support the labour market mobility of temporary migrants who have the following visas:

  • Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)
  • Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482)
  • Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494).

Holders of these visas who stop working with their sponsoring employer will have more time to find a new sponsor, apply for a different visa or arrange to depart Australia. Read more


A new university course aims to help overseas qualified engineers in Australia

The New Zealand Government has made further changes to the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme.

From 26 June 2024, people holding an AEWV in roles at Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) levels 4 and 5 without a pathway to residency are no longer able to support work, visitor or student visa applications for their partners and dependent children. Requirements to be considered for a Diesel Mechanic role in Australia:

  • Relevant qualification – Mechanic or Diesel Technician, with Red Seal qualification being highly beneficial.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the similar role. ?
  • High attention to detail and display a positive & self-motivated attitude.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be able to work in a team environment.
  • Diesel Motor Mechanics migrating to Australia are required to complete a skills assessment through VETASSESS.
