The Consultant's Mind - The SHORTEST-LONG Reflection on Linkedin. Plus The Way Forward!

I recently posted about taking a week off Linkedin.

It was amazing.

I wanted to take a step back and evaluate what I have done for myself and my connections, as well as re-looking the contents that I have put forth.

Are they value-play? Are they pre-selling driven? Are they campaign driven?

1 week after reviewing 730 content posts, 33 articles, 25 YouTube videos - I think I have my answer.

The funny thing is.

I got more than I initially asked for.

*****

For those thinking of taking a Digital Detox - Don't worry.

Just take it.

During that one week of absence from Linkedin, I found out that:

  1. There are 140+ new connection requests.
  2. There are close to 70+ notifications on my previous content posts.
  3. Tag parties continues even after you leave the dancefloor - I still got tagged for comments.

So, relax.

Go take your Digital Detox if you have to.

That is, IF, you have enough contents working for you round-the-clock when you are away.

That is the power of organic content strategy. Have you created enough contents to work on your behalf?

Also, I want to thank everyone who asked if I am suffering from a burn-out. I appreciate all the genuine support and this is priceless. Really, please trust me. I did not suffer from burn-out. I just needed to re-think how best to utilise my social media accounts and eco-system to my benefit.

Just to put it out there - I am not disappointed because my Follower count isn't exploding the way many others have, especially those who started later than I do and flew higher than I did.

I really want to say one thing in an unemotional and non sour-grapes intended fashion.

That is: -

"We all have different ways of judging the results."

I wonder if you believe me.

It's okay.

I believe me.

That's all for reflection.

Now for the Path ahead.

I really want to perform a simple pivot, in way that new blocks of effort are piled on top of the organic contents that I intend to push out continuously.

That pivot would be shining my touch-light on Bottomsup Perspective, which is a Linkedin Livestream I co-founded with Kevin, Jeremey, Timothy and Jenifer (Their profiles are in the comments, feel free to connect with these wonderful folks!).

Bottomsup Perspective was founded on the basis to provide diverse perspectives on global issues, ushering a new topic each week that is current and relevant.

We are now 25 YouTube episodes strong and still growing.

I would like to spend my time to grow this nurturing community and also supporting them in terms of bringing exposure to their authentic contents.

As such, I will include 2 sections into my weekly Linkedin Article and they are: -

  1. All about Bottomsup Perspective - I will weave a simple tapestry on topics we spoke in previously on-air (now on YouTube. The clips will be attached in my article).
  2. From "Let's Connect" to "Let's Engage" - I will curate content posts from our community members which speaks to the hearts of many and deserving a much higher viewership. This section serves as a Distribution List of sorts for our Bottomsup Perspective community members.

So, here goes.

All About Bottomsup Perspective

The Bottomsup Perspective crew enjoys talking about the Future.

So far, we have done 2 episodes on the Future where we get to talk non-stop about things that could possibly happen and not be pinned to wall for the lack of factual support.

That's because the Future is ours to design and no one ever says that it has to resemble what we see today.

It can depart from the norm and perform a leap-frog.

Don't believe me?

Watch these 2 episodes.

You will know what I mean.

[How would the Future of Work look like? WHO THE H**K KNOWS? Therefore we talk without worrying about judgement and factual accuracy.]

[Another brilliant episode. Once again, WHO THE H**K KNOWS what the Future of Retail will be? That doesn't stop Jeremey from spitting out 2 cents every 2 minutes.]

At the rate that we are going, I think we are going to see Futuristic Episodes covering: -

  1. The Future of College.
  2. The Future of Home.
  3. The Future of Money.
  4. The Future of Our Future.
  5. Is there a Future in our Future?

Comment below if there are crazy ideas you have in mind which we can bring it to fruition. In fact, if we like your idea and bring it on air - We will invite you as our guest speaker and have you articulate your Out-of-World, Out-of-Mind futuristic viewpoints.

How is that for an invitation?

Plus, your contributions with Bottomsup Perspective stays circulated even after the Livestream.

Now, you might be asking "How does that work"?

You will understand when you read the next sub-section.

From "Let's Connect" to "Let's Engage" - A Distribution List

"Follow These Cool Personalities from the Bottomsup Perspective!"

I think it is time to evolve. Naturally I am talking big here. I cannot fight trends of "Let's Connect" or "HR Manager Please Treat Candidates with Respect" types of posts.

I thought to myself.

Maybe a slight tweak will finish the job.

Maybe I can start with "Let's Connect".

If I want to bring forth "Let's Connect, Meaningfully!", profiles has to pair with contents of authenticity. As such, I gave it much initial thought and then it hit me that these cool folks are around me all the time!

Naturally I have an extreme positive bias towards the my fellow Co-Founders and community members.

I think this would be the way I could give back to the community of folks of / and supporting Bottoms Perspective all these while.

Without further delay: -

# 1 Jenifer Kwok's Eating Weekend - With Kevin Eating Noodles.

They eat.

Period.

# 2 Timothy DeJesus's call for Anti- Divisiveness - We are One and the Same.

Timothy is known for infusing his no-nonsense take of current affairs into his Deejay'ing career on Tik-Tok and Linkedin, hugging a Teddy Bear while he dances.

Watch out.

This crazy-serious guy is going places.

Next stop?

Mars.

# 3 Jacqueline Ng's Numeric Profiling - Our Life Numbers Matter.

Jacqueline interprets numbers in a fascinating way, one that is way different from mine.

While I monitor cash-flow, she looks at our Life-energy flow.

Scary stuff huh.

# 4 - Kevin's Digital Marketing Strategies - What are the Triple Threats?

The clip is so straightforward, no further explanations required from my end.

IN-SHORT - Do connect and engage with all these brilliant, real people!

*****

And that's it!

I hope you enjoyed this SHORTEST - LONG reflection piece.

As I mentioned previous, this is about a pivot and the way ahead.

I think I have found the path I want to travel.

Probably ...

For now.
