Most companies that use SharePoint store documents in folders.  While folders seem like the most logical way to organize documents, and it’s quick and easy to do, storing meta data for your documents within folder names inherently comes with some draw backs.  

Locating documents in a folder structure can be challenging, and because the native SharePoint UI for navigating document libraries isn’t the best, it can also be frustrating and time consuming.
