1. Safety requirements for lighting at construction sites, wharfs, ports and steel plants

1.1 The lighting power supply voltage at construction sites, wharfs, ports and steel plants shall comply with the following regulations:

a) For general places, the lighting voltage shall be 220V/380V.

b) For tunnels, civil air defense projects, high temperatures, places with conductive dust and narrow places, the lighting voltage shall not be greater than 36V.

c) For places where lighting lines are damp and easily accessible, the lighting voltage shall not be greater than 24V.

d) For particularly damp, well-conductive ground, boilers or metal containers, the lighting voltage shall not be greater than 12V.

e) The voltage of running lights shall not be greater than 36V.


1.2 Lighting lines at construction sites, wharfs, ports and steel plants must use soft rubber sheathed wires and be protected by leakage protectors. The metal casing of the lamp shall be grounded (zero) for protection.

1.3 The phase line of the lighting lamp shall be controlled by a switch, and the phase line shall not be directly introduced.

1.4 The "one machine, one switch" system must be implemented. It is strictly forbidden to use the same switch to directly control two or more electrical equipment (including sockets) {construction sites, docks}.

1.5 Overhead lines must use insulated copper wire or insulated aluminum wire.

1.6 The metal bracket of the mobile iodine tungsten lamp should be reliably grounded (zero), and the height of the lamp from the ground shall not be less than 2.5m.

1.7 The mounting bracket of the high-voltage dysprosium lamp should be sturdy and reliable, and rain protection measures should be taken.

1.8 The outdoor lamps for lighting in construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants shall not be less than 3m from the ground, and the indoor lamps shall not be less than 2.5m from the ground.

1.9 The 220V iodine tungsten lamps used for lighting in construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants should be fixedly installed, and their height should not be less than 3m, and they should not be less than 500mm from flammable materials, and they should not directly irradiate flammable materials. 220V iodine tungsten lamps should not be used for mobile lighting.

1.10 The form and protection level of electric lighting equipment used in construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants should be adapted to environmental conditions.

1.11 Places that require construction at night or in dark places must be equipped with emergency lighting power supplies.

1.12 Construction sites, facilities and equipment that may affect the safe passage of pedestrians, vehicles, aircraft, etc. at night must be equipped with red warning lighting.

2. Overview of energy consumption on construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants

Currently, lighting on construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants is mainly divided into environmental lighting and local operation lighting on the construction site. Most lamps use dysprosium lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps, iodine tungsten lamps, ordinary incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps.

The power of dysprosium lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps or metal halide lamps is mostly between 1000W and 4000W. When there is a need for construction at night, it is understandable to turn them on to ensure sufficient illumination. When there is no construction at night, the purpose of turning on the lights is only for safety needs. Once turned on, they will generally work all night. However, these light sources do not have the characteristics of dimming, which will be very wasteful.

The power of iodine tungsten lamps is generally 500W~1000W. Since the area of local operations is mostly below 10㎡, and since these lamps are diffuse lamps, the surface temperature of the lamps is high, and there are great safety hazards. In addition, the light efficiency is low and the irradiation area is large, resulting in very serious waste.


3. Energy-saving countermeasures

We compared the lighting effects of various light sources on site. In the lighting management of construction sites, docks, ports and steel plants, we adopted the premise of ensuring lighting safety. An LED tower crane searchlight replaces a high-power dysprosium lamp, which is flexible to control and saves energy.

LED light sources have the following advantages:

a) Green and environmentally friendly: good monochromaticity, concentrated LED spectrum, no redundant infrared, ultraviolet and other spectra, little heat and radiation, and little impact on the illuminated object. It does not contain mercury and harmful substances, and the waste can be recycled without pollution.

b) Strong directionality: plane light emission, strong directionality. It is different from point light source incandescent lamps, and the viewing angle is ≤120°.

c) Fast response: The response time is short, only 60ns, and the startup is very fast; incandescent lamps or metal halide lamps are in the order of milliseconds; high-pressure sodium lamps or metal halide lamps often take 1 to 2 minutes to fully start.

d) Low voltage: The driving voltage is low, the working voltage is DC, and it is safe.

e) Small size: small size and light weight. Its characteristics can be used to design thin, light, and compact lamps of various styles; backlight products.

f) Multi-color: LED has bright and rich colors. Different semiconductor materials, different colors of light. The color saturation reaches 130%. The combination of full-color and different light colors is varied. Using the timing control circuit, it can achieve a colorful dynamic change effect.

g) Convenient control: As long as the current is adjusted, the light can be adjusted at will, making the light clearer and softer, making people feel more comfortable.

3.2 Light source selection

a) For construction site, dock, port and steel plant on-site environmental lighting, multiple groups of LED sub-controlled intelligent light sources are used to replace high-pressure sodium lamps or metal halide lamps;

b) For indoor lighting at the construction site, multiple groups of low-power low-voltage lighting products are used to replace metal halide lamps;

c) For construction living areas, low-voltage LED lighting products are used.

d For steel plant lighting, according to the length, width and height of the plant, simulation is carried out to determine how many LUX are required to reach the ground. The ceiling installation method is adopted, and the installation method has been 4*4/6*6 intervals. Replacement of large steel plant lamps can greatly reduce electricity costs.

e Traditional lamps used at ports and docks cannot be wind-resistant, earthquake-resistant and salt-fog-resistant, but LED lamps that meet various standards have been developed
