Constraints made DeepSeek succeed

DeepSeek is stirring the pot and causing all kinds of trouble.
Everyone is talking about how they are cheaper and use fewer Nvidia chips than their competitors to run, but there is something I think we all have glossed over here.
They aren't really meant to have access to those chips in the first place! The US banned Nvidia from selling to China, so they must have circumvented this and bought them second-hand (so to speak).
SG is even under scrutiny for potentially being responsible (with what evidence!?).
Another thing I don't see anyone talking about is agility. Everyone is so shocked that DeepSeek could just come out of nowhere and outperform the American AI startups.?
And well, that's the thing: the American AI companies aren't startups anymore. They're big bloated tech companies that suffer the same slowdowns of any company that size.?
DeepSeek entering the game with a small stature gives it an edge that its competitors have long since lost!
What are your thoughts?
