The Constitutional Oaks...

Long, long ago, in a land far, far away, there was a young and brave knight who rode a beautiful white steed named "Justice." This gallant knight hated the devil and all his minions. It was his quest to pursue them throughout the world.

One day his journey took him to a land fair and beautiful, A land called America. The people there had many laws designed to protect them - -laws that were as thick as forests were covering this new and beautiful land.

The young knight asked the citizens whether there were devils in this land. The people cried, "Yes, there are many who hide in the forests!"

The young knight said, "I will slay your devils and free your land of their curse if I have to cut down every tree to find them."

The people said, "This would be good, young knight, but there is one forest of old oaks which are sacred and must never be touched, much less cut down."

The young knight said, "Why?" The people said they couldn't remember why, but it had been written on sacred scrolls since ancient times.

The young knight boasted, "If a devil hides in any forest I will cut it down and kill him, no matter what." He told the people it was for their own good and best interests.

Well, as the story goes, the young knight set out across the land chasing devils. When they hid in the forests, he cut the many trees down with his sword of might and slew the devils.

Then one day there were no devils or forests left, except one. The Sacred Forest! The forest of sacred oaks and the one mighty devil who lived there. The biggest devil of all.

As the young knight approached the sacred forest, he saw a devil larger than he'd ever seen before. The devil laughed at the young knight from behind one of the great oaks and said in a deep voice, "What is your name, young foolish knight?"

The young knight answered, "My name is Prosecutor. What's your name?" The devil laughed in a sinister way and said, "Soon. Soon enough, young knight, you'll know my name.”

This enraged the young knight. Despite the many warnings, he charged into the forest with his mighty sword drawn, cutting down the sacred trees as the devil scrambled to hide. One after another, the sacred oaks fell. Finally, when the last oak was brought to the ground and the devil had no place to hide, he looked at the young knight and began to laugh, "Ha, ha, ha, ha."

The young knight said, "Why are you laughing, I have destroyed the last forest. You now have no place to hide? I am the one who should be laughing. Where will you hide now?"

The Devil said, "The question, young foolish knight, is not where will I hide, but where will you hide?  Those oaks you've just cut down were a rare breed, indeed. They were planted by the founding fathers of this nation. They were called Constitutional Oaks and were not a place for me to hide, but were the bars of my prison keeping me in.

You see, young knight, I am the greatest devil of all, and in your blind ambition to succeed, you have set me free at last.
