The Constitution: A Foundation of Freedom, Progress, and Harmony

The Constitution is not merely the legal foundation of the state; it is also a symbol of its sovereignty, unity, and aspirations for the future. Samarkand International University of Technology places significant emphasis on cultural and educational initiatives, prioritizing the cultivation of respect among students for the principles enshrined in the Constitution of the Homeland. One of the key events in this direction was the ceremonial celebration held on December 5, 2024, in honor of the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This day became an important occasion for students, the multinational faculty, and staff of the university, symbolizing their commitment to the fundamental principles of the Constitution, which embodies the ideals of unity, freedom, and progress.

The event welcomed a distinguished guest, Orif Mukhammadiev, Head of the Legal Enlightenment bureau of the Samarkand Regional Department of Justice. In his address, he provided an in-depth explanation of the amendments to Uzbekistan’s Constitution, which came into effect following a nationwide referendum held on April 30, 2023. Orif Mukhammadiev emphasized aspects such as the expansion of citizens’ rights, the strengthening of the legal framework of the state, and the promotion of democratic principles.

Alisher Igamberdiev, Head of the SIUT Inspection Service, delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of the Constitution and the necessity of adhering to the norms and regulations enshrined in the Fundamental Law. In his speech, he underscored the responsibility of every citizen to understand and respect the Constitution as a means of contributing to the sustainable development of the country.

The event program was enriched with a thematic quiz, as well as creative performances by the SIUT’s “Oltin Meros” theater studio. The students performed the composition “Vatan Yagonadur” based on the poetry of Khosiyat Bobomurodova — a SIUT professor, poet, member of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan, and a distinguished cultural figure honored with the “El-Yurt Hurmati” and “Mehnat Shuhrati” orders, as well as the “Shuhrat” medal. Khosiyat Bobomurodova also addressed the audience, reciting her original verses dedicated to the Constitution and the Motherland, adding a poetic and heartfelt atmosphere to the event.

The rector of SIUT, Professor Yusuf Abdullaev, also delivered a speech. In his address, he noted:

“The Constitution is not just a set of rules; it is a mirror reflecting our dreams, ambitions, and values. The core values of our university — Honor, Free Thinking, and Humanism — are deeply rooted in the principles of the Constitution. And the youth are the main driving force capable of bringing the principles enshrined in the Constitution to life. Be bold, learn, act, and strive to achieve great accomplishments!”

It is worth noting that in 1992, SIUT’s Rector, then serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation, actively participated in the development of the first Constitution in the history of independent and sovereign Uzbekistan.

The event concluded with the traditional performance of the SIUT anthem, each line of which embodies the university’s lofty goals, aspirations, and spirit.

The celebration of Constitution Day at SIUT was not only a ceremonial event but also a meaningful educational and cultural initiative. It brought together generations, united by the fundamental principles reflected in the Constitution. The event served as a powerful reminder that respect for the Constitution is the foundation upon which the progress of society and the future of Uzbekistan are built.
