Constantly seeking better
We’ve just finished another Leadership Meeting, our Fortnightly Focus of KPIs – financial, operational, client centric, and staff.
As discussed in previous issues of ‘View from the Powerhouse’, being fortnightly, no issues slip beyond manageable grasp, and can usually be dealt with efficiently – before the issue becomes a more serious problem.
The meeting followed the usual agenda:
…and I am pleased to say we ticked off so many of our Q2 Rocks, assigned tasks, completed.
Recruitment had been a key Rock. With such growth forecast and achieved, we needed not just appropriate skill, but skill with a good fit for Team JGF and a pride to wear the badge.
New staff start their introduction to JGF with a full day in the Boardroom with Leila (our Operations Director and HR Specialist) and Michelle (our Office Manager and H&S Practitioner).
This is not just to confirm hours, salaries, vehicle registration, rules and basic procedures. It goes so much further. It is a full and proper introduction to our WHY, what makes us different, what makes us want to get up in the morning to deliver exceptional work for the variety of highly demanding clients across a number of different industrial disciplines.
H&S is paramount across Team JGF, and having our own qualified H&S Practitioner ensures that it is more than a tick box on a website, but a well-managed, well-disciplined sequence of documented procedures, backed by training and upskilling? throughout.
Our systems-driven focus on SIMpro is presented by our ‘SIMpro Queen’, Leila. Every member of engineering staff has a dedicated tablet loaded with all they need from timetables, tasks, team allocation, procedures, certifications, RAMs, H&S – and so much more.

The Induction Day is thorough.
From my office adjacent to the Boardroom, it was a pleasure to hear a recent recruit, Liam, take advantage of an ‘any questions’ spot to say how much he had enjoyed the session and how well it covered every single angle on starting a job, well-equipped with a full understanding of the high standards JGF expect.
He’d never encountered anything like it before.
Coincidentally, after the induction, Leila came in to see me saying, yes it went well, but there were a few issues she wanted to address to improve future Induction Days.
What was outstanding to the Inductee, still needed that 1% improvement according to the Inductor.
That’s the beauty of Team JGF, constantly seeking better.
More than just Cables & Cutters.
