Consistent Daily Action

Consistent Daily Action

Consistency adds up over time. Writing 500 words a day means that over the course of a year, I will have written just in this Daily Newsletter alone, 182,500 words. The typical book is 60,000 words. Meaning that 500 words a day will create 3 books a year.

It doesn’t seem like much, but that consistent effort compounds greatly. The power is in repeating the day over and over again. This is where the power lies. Most people can’t produce that type of consistent action or result in their day.

5 calls or points of contact a day is 1,825 per year and if you only do it on weekdays then it’s 1,300 points of contact. Just by not doing it on the weekends you lose out on 525 contacts. This is how powerful consistency is. There can be no days off because you lose the compounding effect.

Let’s take a look at the amount of time something takes. Whether it’s the 5 contacts or 500 words, it takes roughly 20 minutes to do. Let’s say ? hour just for easy figuring. For the book example, it’s 182.5 hours to write 3 books. Now, this has nothing to do with quality, just getting it down on paper. It will take at least 182.5 hours for just one book when you consider editing, restructuring it, formatting, etc.

30 minutes of your day is 2%. More than likely, you spend this much time scrolling through social media. Taking that and putting it towards a productive action for 30 minutes, compounding over time is the right thing to do.

This Daily Newsletter reaches just under 2,000 people a day. For only having it up for 2 months, that is pretty cool. Being able to reach 2,000 people with my words every day is a pretty amazing thing.

When you are just starting out, that first 500 words or that first subscriber, you might not think it is much, but it is the biggest deal there is. Because that is just the start. Now it is up to you to keep going. It’s your duty and obligation to continue down the path.

If only 20 people listen to, comment, or like your content that is a big deal. We see these people with millions of followers and tons of engagement. Yet, if you had 20 people coming to you every day, seeking out your content, and standing in a room to listen to you, wouldn’t you feel amazing?!? Which is just the perspective I like to take. If 20, 30, or 50 people showed up to hear me speak every day or every week I would be so excited.

This is what we have through social media and podcasts. But it takes you doing the work in private, the work that no one sees in order for you to get the results you’re looking for. I don’t write in front of a crowd. Singers don’t write their lyrics in public either. It’s done alone.

Just remember that the work you are doing while no one is watching and doing it for a consistent amount of time is what will get you the greatest results if you can just keep going.
