Have you ever noticed how numerous fitness influencers (particularly those pushing products) rave about the miraculous effects of a certain powder, shake, or program? Many are led to believe that these products are the magic formula behind those jaw-dropping results. ??
?
The truth? Most of the time, individuals spend a fortune on these products, overlooking the real game-changer, the most priceless asset ever – YOU. ??
?
Let me elaborate. The "YOU" I'm referring to is the drive to immerse yourself in a challenge, envisioning a succesfullendgame. So, how does one secure a win? By picturing a desired outcome. And after envisioning that outcome? You spring into action. Sadly, right at this key moment, a lot of us trip up. One big trap? 'Perfectionism' (Yep, I've totally been there!).
Fitness influencers have become millionaires by peddling a myth of "overnight success." The untold truth? Achieving any significant milestone necessitates a rock-solid dedication to one invaluable, cost-free ingredient: consistency. ??
A game-changer for me was a book, titled "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy.
For the analytically inclined, here's a powerful insight from the book: If you commit to improving by just 1% daily for a year, by its conclusion, you'd have grown 37.78 times from your starting point. Conversely, if you decrease by 1% daily, you'd be left with a mere 3% of your original prowess by year-end. Aren't these numbers shocking? ??
?
In the past, I've made the error of implementing too many simultaneous changes, hoping for rapid results. This approach usually becomes unsustainable, leading to one, very redictable result: surrender. By failing to allow room for errors, it's as if I was refusing to acknowledge my human vulnerability.
?
Last September, I restarted my gym routine with a focus on body composition. Instead of overextending myself with rigorous meal plans and impossible rules, I opted for a more compassionate approach, emphasizing one change at a time. With this mindset, I've enjoyed my gym sessions more than ever before, even though it took me a few weeks to get there (hated it at the beginning!!!). And within weeks, I began to see results, managing to perform three pull-ups—a result I'd never achieved before. Admittedly, reaching this point was challenging, but having a personal trainer for guidance and accountability made all the difference. ???
?
This fresh approach fortified my self-belief, making my goals seem more attainable. I now feel confident in pursuing any objective, all the while fostering my most challenging attribute—self-compassion.
Yet, the journey isn't free of obstacles, some ojective and some self-imposed. There've been days when my muscles screamed in protest, and there were times when my self-doubt or negative self-talk attempted to validate some negative beliefs.
?
Understanding the 'why' behind our goals grants us unparalleled strength to combat these bouts of contrasting thinking. It's never solely about the 'what' but rather the 'who' we aspire to become. ??

The age of social media intensifies our battle with consistency, given the pressure to attain rapid, tangible results. It's crucial to celebrate every milestone, regardless of its magnitude, rather than dwelling on the milestones we have not hit yet.
Consistency remains the most powerful tool at our disposal—a tool that doesn't cost a dime.
Embracing your aspirational identity and understanding your motivations can keep you on track.
Celebrate every win, whether big or small, and keep in mind: perfection isn't real. In fact, embracing our imperfections is the truest form of perfection.Imagine where you could be in 365 days with a commitment to consistent, minor, daily improvement (no plural here, on purpose!). On the flip side, those held back by overthinking, or those frozen in inaction in pursuit of 'perfection,' miss out on the powerful math of the compound effect – that potential 37.78% improvement.Who do you reckon will have the last laugh by year-end? I eagerly await that triumphant moment! ??
Until next time,
