Consistency!

“The most beloved of actions to Allah are those which are done persistently, even if they are little.” (Muslim 783).

Tony Robbins, top life and business strategist, mentions the key to success and happiness in one word: Progress. He has authored many books, conducts motivational sessions and religiously talks about being successful in life and business in general. And all he promotes is to make progress towards your goals. You also may have heard the western quotes about being success equating to take small, but consistent actions towards your destiny.

This particular hadith sums all of this literature in one line. But I wonder why persistent actions are the most beloved to ALLAH SWT? This surely has to do with the psychology of human beings and who would know it better than the Creator Himself? I haven’t studied Psychology in detail yet, but whatever little I’ve studied, it teaches me that attaining milestone, even minute, leads to a specific satisfaction. And that inner satisfaction helps us to keep going and doing that action again and again until we ultimately reach our destiny.

Being an ardent believer of this rule, I urge to keep taking small yet consistent steps towards goals. No matter how mighty the task it, if you do it daily you’re ultimately going to achieve it. Let’s take an example. You have been planning to read that 500 pages book and never got the time? Well, start reading 2 pages a day, and you’ll finish that book in 250 days. When you’ll start achieving results and getting things done, you’ll automatically start reading more and more pages, one day after another, ended up finishing it way earlier than initially planned. And this rule is applicable to almost every life goal that you have.

If you’ve read it this far, why don’t you take 5 more minutes and make a list of things you intend to do for a long time? Pick one of those things and start spending 15 mins on it, DAILY. Yes, DAILY and you’ll start witnessing results yourself.
