Consistency in Machine Condition Evaluation

How to be sure that machine condition evaluation is consistent? What tools should one use to evaluate the change on a long-term basis?

AAnT offers different standard vibration analysis tools, but what makes it special is the capability to compare the trended data over long periods, in the same operating conditions.

The graph above shows a general non-filtered trend from the AAnT Online web application. The graph represents relative shaft displacements on the hydro-generator, alongside machine speed and active power in the period of 2 years. One can see that shaft displacements very much depend on operating conditions, e.g. transient, partial load, or full load.

Using AAnT Cloud statistical analysis toolkit, one can extract the shaft displacement maximums in the same period, filtered to 70-100% of nominal power. This enables comparison of the same operating conditions.

To make it more interesting, AAnT Cloud offers additional statistical tools, for example, histograms, which enable comparison of Min, Max, and Median values for up to 3 time periods.

Using such tool, maintenance engineers can consistently track machine condition over the years and plan the maintenance activities accordingly.
