Consistency is King

Consistency is King

Do you enjoy burgers?

Do you know how to cook them?

I bet you or someone you know can make a better burger than McDonald’s.

In your city, there are probably local restaurants that serve healthier and tastier burgers than McDonald’s, and for almost the same price.

So, why then is McDonald’s dominating the market with ever-increasing sales?

Their quality isn’t the best, obviously.

The key is consistency.

McDonald’s is consistent with their meals, their color scheme, their branding.

You are guaranteed to get the same salty Big Mac every time you order it, in almost all countries around the world, with slight changes to conform to local policies and culture.

This isn’t a coincidence.

Domino’s Pizza, Starbucks, KFC, and many others do the same.

These companies spend billions on research to study consumer behavior.

We, as humans, love our comfort zone.

We don’t want to be challenged and face the unexpected when we eat out, at least not all the time.

The same is true with content.

While a bare minimum quality is needed, true success lies in the hands of consistency.

Be consistent with your marketing plan.

Consistency beats both frequency and quality every time.

So, how can you leverage this subtle but vital secret?

  1. Decide what frequency you can produce content with for at least six months.
  2. Make a content planner in Google Sheets or a similar app. Nothing fancy, just three columns are enough.
  3. Stay ahead of your schedule. Try to produce at least one week’s worth of content ahead of time. This way, you have some sort of safety net to rely on in case something happens.

After six months, review your schedule and see if you can maybe reduce or increase the frequency based on your situation and results.

This works every time on every social platform. Just be consistent, and with time, you can build a loyal audience who loves your content.
