Nature’s fertilizers: Wild animals are unsung heroes when it comes to enriching soil health. Their dung and urine replenish essential nutrients, naturally boosting soil fertility. With their wide-ranging movements, wildlife also helps cycle nutrients across landscapes. Take the hippo, for instance—its nighttime grazing not only nourishes the grasslands but also delivers vital minerals back to the river, enhancing fish productivity in the process.

Nature’s pharmacy: Countless plant and animal species provide valuable benefits to humans in various ways. Medicines like aspirin, penicillin, quinine, morphine, and vincristine all have their origins in uncultivated plants. Even ancient systems like Ayurveda have long relied on plant extracts and herbs to treat conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and neurological disorders, showcasing the timeless connection between nature and healing.

Leading with a purpose: TACO’s conservation in action

Through a series of thoughtful, on-the-ground efforts, TACO is working to strengthen the protection of endangered species, support conservation teams, and ensure that natural habitats continue to thrive for future generations.

Mission Vanraksha at Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve, Assam: This project is all about giving park rangers the tools they need to protect Kaziranga’s wildlife. By building surveillance centers and comfortable living spaces, TACO is helping rangers keep a close watch on the park’s precious wildlife, especially the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, and ensuring the entire ecosystem stays healthy and thriving.

Partnership with Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi District, Rajasthan: In Rajasthan, TACO has teamed up with the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve to fight poaching and protect the region’s tigers. By building anti-poaching camps and providing surveillance vehicles, TACO is strengthening patrolling efforts and creating a safer, more sustainable environment for these majestic predators.

Jambeshwar Environment & Wildlife Society in Barner District, Rajasthan: TACO’s efforts in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, in partnership with the Jambeshwar Environment & Wildlife Society, focus on supporting both wildlife and local communities. The initiative includes building fodder stores for herbivores, providing drinking water facilities, planting trees, and setting up an ambulance service for injured wildlife—ensuring swift care and a healthier ecosystem.
