Consciousness & Capital Explores the Deep Interconnection Between All Living Systems
We know that from a cellular level all of reality is deeply interconnected; what we describe as "indivisible". Therefore, separating science, human rights, climate solutions and studies in consciousness is a mistake. One becomes the pathway and solution for all. We cannot protect nature without understanding that we are fundamentally protecting ourselves. We are a drop of water in the ocean of life. We cannot lift women up without using capital to empower and fund them. Women are the heartbeat of life. We cannot dissolve our own feelings of isolation or separateness without an experiential practice that "melts" the subject/object experience and shows that external reality is not "separate" from us. Afterall, what exists without our awareness of it? Consciousness & Capital explores the profound interconnection between these & other powerful forces.
Friends,
For the past year, I have been writing a newsletter called Road to COP28 because I believe that capital, when directed towards climate tech solutions, can protect the most vulnerable people on the planet while also protecting one’s own investments. Based on this goal, we hosted a powerful breakfast during COP28 to showcase certain technologies and organizations that are offering climate solutions, showcasing art that transforms consciousness and opportunities to move more capital to women innovators in the space.
During this effort, I had a breakthrough that clarified much for me and inspired me to change the name of the newsletter to Consciousness & Capital. I am a 50+ year meditator and I realized that the ultimate activism for me is to connect the non-dual tantric practices that I study and teach to the energy of capital more fully. Consciousness, mysticism, communion means that we are indivisible as nature itself. We are pan-sexual, pan-species, pan-local (as quantum physicists describe in theories related to non-locality). In the new science of consciousness, we are very much “non-local” and when the mind, intellect and ego calm down, we are consciousness expanded everywhere.
With this newsletter, I would also like to announce the launch of my podcast with Dr. David Schwartz, who is a neuroscientist, called Exploring Reality, MaybeTM. We are launching this podcast to explore what reality might be, what the mind, intellect and ego might be and how to play with perception, identity and the ego. We are launching this because we believe that the ultimate accomplishment for mankind is not (just) excursions to Mars or extending life; but rather the uninterrupted present awareness of the undisturbed mind. This is the ultimate Olympics and greatest accomplishment for humanity. For once this firmness of awareness is experienced, we are “pulled” into an expanded embrace (shaktipat) as pure unending consciousness itself.
When the mind, intellect & ego quiet, we see that we ARE nature, we are ALL species, and we cannot harm another person or species on the planet without fundamentally harming ourselves.
I believe that the unconscious bias that exists in the way capital moves in the world, with under 3% of venture capital going to women, will be transformed with an understanding of our fundamental interdependence. Equity lives in Utumbu; “I am because we are”.
Uri Hasson, a neuroscientist, shows in this TED talk that something as simple as storytelling can unify the brainwaves in our collective brains. Therefore, my goal at the intersection of consciousness and capital is to untangle concepts that keep us separate and living in scarcity and to move capital to protect life so that all species thrive.
To learn practices to play with perception, identity and the ego, please join me on Sunday mornings to “melt reality” together. We will experiment with practices we can use during our workday or at school to quiet the mind and intellect, so our sensory, sensual present awareness expands and thrives.

Global Elections: Climate Takes Center Stage
In 2024, over 40 countries, home to nearly half of the world's population, will be holding crucial elections, including nations like the United States, India, and South Africa. Climate change takes center stage in many of these elections, as the leaders elected will face significant challenges outlined in global climate commitments for the next decade.
The leaders elected in these elections will face substantial challenges related to global climate commitments, including ending deforestation, tripling renewable energy capacity, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The article below highlights the contrasting positions of Republicans and Democrats in the United States, with President Biden signing ambitious climate legislation while former President Trump withdrew from the Paris Agreement.?

Join the 1.5° Pledge to Raise Millions for Climate Action
Launched in March of 2022, the 1.5°Climate Strategies Group is a new donor collaborative focused on elevating catalytic, philanthropic climate investment opportunities and filling the gaps. The donor collaborative is free to join and it offers members bi-weekly quick pitches from multiple pre-vetted organizations poised to make a significant impact on climate. After raising nearly $10M in 2022, the 1.5°CSG has opened the new year with a series focused on ensuring that the implementation of federal spending bills, including the Inflation Reduction Act, is efficient, effective, and just.
You can sign up to join the 1.5°Climate Strategies Group to gain access to their research and organizational highlights.
We also encourage you to make a meaningful commitment to climate action by signing the 1.5°Climate Pledge. Pledge signers commit to investing at least 1.5% of their net assets annually in climate actions (some of the 1.5°CSG members have signed the pledge but that's not required to join the group.)
