To The CEOs of Tomorrow,
Today, I wanted to share some of the journey and insights behind my conscious decision to become a CEO. As an Executive/Leadership Coach to senior leaders and CEOs, this was not an easy decision to make. I often saw my clients struggle to fill such big an important roles, and I wondered whether I was capable. But alas, this path is not just about leading an organization, but about manifesting a vision for positive change in the world. And ultimately, that is what led me to embark on this journey.
Experience
The decision to become a CEO initially stemmed from a profound realization: the vision I had for my work and the world could not be achieved through 1:1 leadership coaching alone. My want to see and co-create freedom and fulfillment with and for the world would require me to work with many other people.
A pivotal moment came during a conversation with a friend who expressed unwavering confidence in my ability to realize this vision. He believed in my potential to become the leader I aspired to be, even when I doubted myself. And believe me, I had a LOT of doubts!
The enormity of co-creating this kind of change with others and impacting the world really scared me. I had so many questions:
Is this even possible? How would I do it? Who would I need to become?
Many of the answers to these questions necessitated a very strong team who were highly aligned with this vision and mission. This realization drove me to embrace the role of CEO, committing to the growth and leadership required to actualize this vision.
Thus, Consciously and The Consciously Collective were born.
It wasn't enough to dream; I needed to build and lead a team dedicated to making meaningful, material progress. Eventually, I realized that a team wouldn't be enough.
I needed to create a global community!
Learning
One key lesson I've learned on this journey is that the learning and growth process is never complete. Despite my extensive knowledge in leadership development, coaching, and facilitation, becoming a CEO has provided countless opportunities to apply and expand upon this knowledge in practical ways.
