Conscious Decisions and Actions

Conscious Decisions and Actions

We make thousands of decisions every day. Some of these decisions are important, such as whether we will live according to our values, and some are seemingly unimportant, such as which cup we will drink tea from.

We usually pay attention to decisions that we meet rationally. So we would like to consider all the options, check the risks and make a decision based on all the facts.

People who make such decisions tend to have clear goals and stickt implementation plan. But what if they miss important signals along the way? What if they don't consider all dimensions of knowing? What if they ignore the warning signals or the emerging opportunities pass them by?

Sometimes I also bet on rational decision-making. I focused on the facts and ignored the feeling in my stomach, which in its own way told me that the decision was not the right one. Or I ignored the signes of emerging changes just becasue they did not apear logical to me. Over time, I learned that it is also worth considering all ways of knowing.

So I would like to remind you that apart from rational decisions, there are several other approaches to decision-making that we can use, depending on the situation and context.

Intuitive decision-making: This approach involves relying on your intuition or gut feeling to make a decision. Intuition is based on past experiences and patterns, and can be useful when making decisions in situations with incomplete or ambiguous information.

Emotional decision-making: Emotions can play a significant role in decision-making, and individuals or teams may use emotional cues or feelings to guide their decisions. However, emotions can also be a source of bias, so it is important to be aware of how they may be influencing the decision.

Collaborative decision-making: Collaborative decision-making involves working with others to reach a decision. This approach can help generate a wider range of ideas and perspectives, and can also help build consensus and commitment to the decision.

Ethical decision-making: Ethical decision-making involves considering the ethical implications of a decision, and ensuring that it aligns with one's values and principles. This approach can be particularly important when making decisions that have a significant impact on others or society as a whole.

Intentional decision-making: Intentional decision-making involves being deliberate and purposeful in one's decision-making process. This can involve reflecting on one's values and goals, and considering the long-term implications of a decision.

When we combine all approaches, we well make a conscious decisions. And do not forget – they need to be followed by conscious actions to implement them.

Not just hard data, we need to consider all ways of knowing.
