Conscious Choice: React/Respond/Reflect
It’s easy to react to anything and everything in our day to day lives…
However, there's a better way -? Shifting from automatic reactions to mindful responses and deeper reflection.
React: A reaction is an immediate and instinctual behavior, often fueled by strong emotions like anger, fear, or defensiveness. It’s usually short term thinking with not enough objectivity and high chances of being judgemental or a knee jerk reaction. It does not often result in positive outcomes but ends up hurting or damaging the impact or relationships.?
Respond: A response is usually thoughtful and a conscious choice. It allows us to take a pause and think through various options and perspectives before taking the next step? speaking or acting. Responding allows us to step away from the immediacy of our emotions and approach situations with greater clarity,? communicate in a constructive way thereby enabling better outcomes and relationships
Reflect: Reflection allows us to look back on a situation, analyze our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It's a powerful tool for self-understanding, learning deeper level insights. It enables us to identify our patterns, triggers and helps us make better decisions and choices in future, and most importantly, think from the perspective of others.
It's Not Always Easy…Making this shift takes practice.??
