Through Dream Interpretation
I am terrified of heights. To be honest, I can go up heights but stay in the safe zone, you know that zone that feels the steadiest. However, the minute I get close to the edge of anything, even if I watch something on TV! My whole body turns to jelly. However, a couple of weeks ago, something shifted.
I was teaching one of my mystical Bible classes, and we were exploring the story of Joseph—the dreamer. Together, we dove into the mystical aspects of how dreams can speak to us, how they hold keys to deeper parts of our psyche, and how, when interpreted with curiosity, courage and by asking certain questions or doing rituals, they can shift our lives in profound ways.
That night, Joseph's story stayed with me, lingering in the depths of my unconscious, because I had a dream that revealed something startling.
In the dream, I stood on the edge of a great height, frozen and afraid. I woke up with clarity: my fear of heights was not just about standing on tall buildings. It was symbolic of something greater—a fear that has been holding me back from deepening into the full depths of my psyche, my spirit, and my work.
The Bible verse that we were studying was revelation is Genesis 37:5-9, where Joseph has a dream that sets his destiny into motion:
?“Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, ‘Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.’”
Joseph’s dream was audacious as he was foretelling and predicting his future of what he saw about his life; and it sparked jealousy and resistance from those around him. But here’s what we often miss: Joseph’s courage to honour his dreams set him on a path of immense trials and even greater transformation. Dreams are sacred. They call us into new, uncomfortable territory—but within that discomfort lies divine opportunity for growth.
?The mystical interpretation of Joseph’s dream teaches us that:?

In honour of my psyche's message, I’m taking action. This week, I will be jumping 192 meters off the Auckland Sky Tower.
Not because I suddenly feel brave, (my belly already feels sick) but because I’m choosing to trust the message that came to me in the language of my dreams. To trust in something greater. To trust that God is sending me these messages so I can move into something greater. ?I believe that facing this fear will unlock something greater—a new depth, a new freedom, and a greater capacity to serve and guide others.
So, in conclusion, The Joseph story reminds us that dreams are not random—they are divine invitations. Your dream might just be pointing to a breakthrough you didn’t know you needed. So, I ask you:
What fear might your dreams be asking you to face? Are you listening?
I invite you to reflect: What are your in your dreams and what would change in your life if you took one small step toward conquering your fear today?
?Until next time.
Blessings
