Fear is a powerful force. Fear stops people from capitalizing on opportunities. It is considered as the top most reason for billions of people not trying to live up to their potential and living mediocre life.
We all are humans. We all have one or more fears that hinder our growth. In one way or another, fear prevents you from getting what you want from your life. Therefore, it is extremely important to conquer your fears. Refuse to be fearful about what can happen to you. You need to stop being afraid of what could go wrong. Instead, start being positive about what could go right. Always work on the positive side of every aspect and move forward to achieve a new height of success in life.
Don’t fear failure. You can fail on your way to success. Each successful person has failed many times in their journey. Even though he is considered the best Army General that ever lived, Napoleon Bonaparte has not won all the battles. He lost many important battles including the famous battle of Waterloo. Successful people are not easily discouraged by failure. Their self-confidence and determination to succeed help them move forward despite setbacks. They use failures as experience and learn from them to take the next step with more confidence.
Become a person who believes in experimentation and finding out the right ways. Be inventive at home, at work, and in other places and situations. Discover new friends, books, music, restaurants etc. Break up your fixed routines. Do something new and different each week. Start implementing it now. You may have tried to make an effort to accomplish your goal but gave up feeling it is too hard and you are not good enough. You may know very well what to do but are afraid to do it. You will have to break the inertia and work hard; very hard in the beginning. you need to build a habit to make your everyday actions begin to reflect who you want to be. There will be days when following your dream will drain your energy and you feel frustrated. But, do not stop. It is really hard to keep doing. But, you will have to undergo this hard journey to taste the fruits of success.
REMEMBER Most of the fears are psychological in nature. Worry, tension, embarrassment, panic, and similar other types of fears originate from mismanaged negative imaginations. Fear wears down physical vitality, drains your energy, reduces your confidence, makes you sick, and can even shorten your life. You must recognize your fear before you can conquer it. It does not matter how much you know. That matters most is what you learn and how you make the best use of it. Do not forget, fear is the reason people accomplish little and satisfy themselves with little.
BEWARE Do not permit fears to control your life. It freezes your mind, blocks your progress, and prevents you from developing creative power. It can significantly reduce your chances of success.
ACTION STEPS Be decisive to take action because action cures fear while procrastination and indecisiveness fertilize fear. Taking an appropriate action whenever you experience fear is considered the best strategy to conquer fear. To conquer your fears, make it a practice to:
- Smile. It will help wash away your negative emotions like worry, depression etc.
- Occupy a front seat. It will prompt you to take initiatives.
- Speak up in meetings, conferences, forums etc. It will increase your confidence.
- Look in the eyes of the person in front of you. It will not only boost your self-confidence but will also win you his confidence.
- Refuse to accept negative thoughts. It will ensure deposit of only positive thoughts in your memory bank. To be safer, withdraw only positive thoughts from the memory bank and let others drain away through meditation exercises, even if entered unconsciously.
- Walk a little faster. It signifies you value time and uses it effectively. It will not only build your self-confidence but enhance your respect in the eyes of others.
- Not think and speak “Impossible”. This failure word sets off a chain reaction of other negative thoughts and processes to prove you are right.
Believe me, there is an endless scope for improvement. Successful people know this principle and follow it religiously to always find a way to conquer their fears and perform their best. They don’t ask: can I do it better? They know they can do better. Instead, they ask themselves: How I can do it better? So, go ahead and ASK YOURSELF:
- What type of fears do I have frequently?
- What immediate action steps can I take to dispel these type of fears?
- What proactive actions can I take to become better so I never experience these type of fears?
