1. Prioritize your to-do-list
?If you think of productivity as simply getting things done quickly, you might be mistaken.
Cal Newport, a Georgetown University professor and author of “Slow Productivity,” suggests that the key to producing more meaningful work is to slow down and focus on doing less. According to Newport, the core principles of slow productivity are to undertake fewer tasks, work at a natural pace, and prioritize quality. This approach can help eliminate the constant busyness of tasks like juggling emails and meetings, allowing you to devote more energy to creating high-quality work.
While slowing down sounds appealing, it can be challenging to implement in a work environment that values immediacy. If your colleagues are quicker to take on projects, how can you excel in your job? Read the full article here!
2. 'Quiet Vacationing' this summer
With Memorial Day weekend behind us, Americans have unofficially welcomed the start of summer. While the warmer months are perfect for outdoor activities, they aren't ideal for job hunting. A recent Harris Poll survey found that nearly 40% of Millennial workers admit to taking time off without formally notifying their managers. They engage in tactics such as periodically moving their computer mouse to appear active and scheduling messages to be sent outside of normal business hours, creating the illusion of working overtime and going the extra mile for their employer.
