Connections Making a Difference

Connections Making a Difference

Connected Inc

A truly worrisome statistic from the 2016 Australian census revealed that over 5,800 people in the Brisbane region experience homelessness. In a world where nobody should have to experience homelessness, we are fortunate that we have dedicated organisations and community leaders working tirelessly to assist and provide long term solutions for those suffering from homelessness. One of these organisations working towards making a difference is Connected Inc. which are based on Brisbane’s northside in Virginia.

The charity was established in 2011 to assist with the devastating impact of the Brisbane Floods, the team from Connected Inc. were a key logistics provider of donated items to those affected by the floods. The team have since recognised an increasing need for support services within our local community, and as such has continued to grow to be able to provide a range of services.

The organisation are committed to making a difference in people’s lives and have partnered with various Job Service Providers over the years. Recently, the team have partnered with Challenge Employment and Training to deliver Business Traineeships which has meant several long term unemployed participants have been able to successfully seek employment.

Kedron-Wavell is very proud to support Connected Inc. with funding from our Community Grants Program. The funds were used towards installing industrial fans in the Connected Inc. warehouse to improve the working conditions for volunteers on extremely hot summer days, and the team can continue their inspiring work without the weather being a cause for operations being ceased.

If you know of a Brisbane based community group on the northside who are seeking funding for a project they are working towards, please ensure to sign up to our 2022 Community Grants EOI list so we can contact you when applications open.

We visited Connected Inc. last week when KW was hosting flood evacuees at the club. Even though this group receive no government funding they were able to give back to the community by offering flood victims clothing at no cost. As far as an OP shop goes it is one of Brisbane’s best kept secrets.
